Ibero-Francophone Group

Chair: Patricia ROY-THERMES

The IBERO-FRANCOPHONE GROUP is a Group of Eurojuris Lawyers and other legal practitioners (Notaries)from the Iberic Peninsula (Spain, Portugal) and totally or partly Francophone countries (France, Belgium, Switzerland).Communication languages are French and Spanish, so speaking or at least understanding both languages is a requisite to become a member of the Group. Colleagues from other countries who fulfil the communication languages' requisites are also welcome in our meetings.

Our clients benefit from the Group in three ways. Firstly, because we send their cross-border mandates to colleagues that we trust after having already worked together. Secondly, because the client's mother tongue language is used, thus obtaining a precise communication, essential in the legal field. Thirdly, because our neighbours' legal systems are compared in the Group's meetings, so when mandates are sent both lawyers have already a preliminary knowledge of the other colleague's legal system, which makes communication fast and efficient.

The Group, created in Barcelona in 2002 and transformed into a Eurojuris Practice Group in 2006, meets twice a year within the Eurojuris autumn (annual congress) and spring (practice groups' day) events. Our meetings are monographics on a cross-border topic, such as recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, service of documents, judicial structure, arbitration and mediation, purchase of real estate, commercial companies, inheritances, agency and distribution contracts, etc.
