Madrid lived up to its reputation as a vibrant cosmopolitan city, where the action never stops, when it played host to the 2022 Eurojuris Annual Congress.
And this was a Congress like no other, attracting more than 150 members and guests to the three-day event as the network celebrated its 30th birthday with a unique programme, culminating with a special gala dinner at one of the city’s most prestigious venues.
Against a sunny backdrop and views across the city, the event kicked off with a roof top party with member-developed national stands staging a show to excite the senses and encourage cultural sharing.
Friday’s showcase was an action-packed schedule of practice group events and Saturday saw a plenary for all members and the football match of the season. For while eyes may have been on the Real Madrid v Barcelona game taking place over the same weekend, Eurojuris members were focused on their own skills on the pitch, with the regular inter-member football game.
Enrique Delgado Schwarzmann Jimenez is president of the national association, Eurojuris Spain. He said: “I was delighted when it was decided to hold the 30th anniversary Congress in Madrid. As national associations, we are keen to promote our respective countries to develop the network and to promote the law firms of the country. Congress presented a real opportunity to raise awareness and to get to know each other better, while showing the beauty of Madrid, a truly international city.”
The event culminated in the gala dinner and a programme of awards for members at the Casino de Madrid, an architectural gem in the heart of the city. A multi-course dinner included a succession of tapas dishes to excite the taste-buds and the evening was brought to an exciting conclusion with members put through their paces with traditional Spanish dancers, before the DJ took over.
Said president Olivier Vibert: “All the feedback from members shows this was an excellent Congress, enjoyed by a large attendance from around the world. Everyone took great pleasure in getting to see friends, old and new, with a true demonstration of the strength of the Eurojuris family.
“As a network we have to grow, and that is how we have reached the point of celebrating 30 years as a network. The Covid pandemic presented a major challenge for a network founded on meeting in person, but we responded immediately by hosting online events to bring people together and demonstrated how we can adapt to challenges while seizing opportunities.
“For the future we must continue to grow and to adapt and that is the focus of the Eurojuris board. We see many new opportunities ahead.”
