About

Clare is a partner in our clinical negligence team with 20 years’ experience in acting for clients who have suffered serious injury, recovering substantial awards of compensation on their behalf.

Clare is known for her expertise in birth injury claims, involving children who have cerebral palsy as a result of delays in delivery or inadequate neonatal care. She has worked extensively with both adults and children who have suffered brain and spinal injury or avoidable amputations. Clare has acted successfully for the Claimant in a number of complex cases including the reported case of Lee Large v Dr J H Waldron in which the Claimant suffered a severe brain injury as a consequence of a delay in diagnosing and treating meningitis. The Claimant was awarded a significant sum in damages following a fully contested trial.

She has been named as a ‘leading individual’ in her field in Chambers & Partners for a number of years and is also recommended in The Legal 500, both independently researched guides to the UK legal profession. Clare is a panel member of AvMA, the North of England Medico-Legal Society and has received Law Society accreditation to the Clinical Negligence panel which recognises her expertise in this field.

Clare also Chairs the North East Women Lawyers Division.
