Gerhard Deiters is partner at BHO Legal. His practice focuses primarily on IT law, Data and Data Protection law.
Gerhard studied law at the University of Cologne. He worked at the University of Bonn and a Cologne based German commercial law firm. During his legal clerkship, Gerhard worked at the German Embassy in Jakarta and eBay Germany. At eBay Germany, Gerhard participated in several precedent court proceedings concerning alleged trademark infringements on the eBay marketplace. After the legal clerkship, he worked as Attorney-at-law in the area of IT, Telecoms and Data Protection law for one of the biggest German law firms.
Gerhard specializes in the legal fields of IT, data, data protection and international contract law as well as the security and defence sector, in particular in the areas of satellite communications and unmanned systems. His clients include international corporations, medium-sized companies and German and European authorities and research institutes. He advises public bodies and research institutes on all questions regarding the dissemination of data and and in public procurements for software developments with agile procedures. Gerhard is also providing services as external Data Protection Officer (TÜV Süd certified).
Gerhard regularly holds seminars concerning IT procurements, drafting of IT development contracts, procurement of geospatial data and international data protection law. He is lecturer at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences in the master program Geoinformatics on the topic "Spatial Data Infrastructures - Legal Frameworks and Licensing Models".
