Looking Back: Eurojuris International Congress in Dubai

Looking Back: Eurojuris International Congress in Dubai

From 18 to 21 of October, Eurojuris members and friends got together at the Annual Eurojuris Congress. This year, the Congress took place in Dubai, an attractive venue for business and networking.

Why Dubai? Various reasons and keywords immediately come to mind, such as modern, business, or the gate to Asia. But it is also home to the Eurojuris member firm Cresco Legal, who had approached us with the idea of setting up an international association in Asia with the aim of becoming a member of our network. In 2017, Asiajuris was founded, and since the founders of Asiajuris are located in Dubai, we decided to look beyond Europe’s borders.

Our host, Cresco Legal, was very excited to welcome Eurojuris members and friends to their city. A special pre-Congress programme had been organised for those wanting to enjoy outdoor activities and the beach before the Congress. Before the official Congress opening, the ITTI practice group seized the occasion to visit the Gulf IT Exhibition (GITEX), which took place from 14 to 18 of October. The event provided an excellent opportunity to experience the latest tech innovations and consider how they may affect clients and their businesses.

During the opening evening on Thursday, all participants were welcomed at the “Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Hotel”, in the heart of Dubai. At the “Latest Recipe Restaurant,” the group enjoyed an extravagant dinner and fun entertainment. Diane Tries tells us, “we spent a wonderful evening on the terrace, eating delicious seafood, exotic fruits, and more.”

On Friday, Mr Nasif Kayed, a successful Emirati businessman, was the guest speaker of the plenary session. In an entertaining speech, he introduced the local business culture and the traditions of the Arabic world to his audience. At night, not only a luxurious dinner at “The Palace Hotel” in downtown Dubai but also the breath-taking views of “Burj Khalifa” awaited us.

The Golf Tournament, as well as the Practice Group Sessions, took place on Saturday morning. The sessions included exciting lectures, discussions, and visits to local businesses and institutions, including the DIFC Court, District One, one of the leading developers in Dubai, and Airlink International UAE.

The closing dinner took place at the “Palm Grill – Ritz Carlton”, the new casual beachside dining experience in Dubai. “The food was excellent at all location. Delicious, plentiful and almost too much”, says Diane.

A big thank you to Cresco Legal. With the fantastic help of our host, we were able to put together a programme full of networking, and discovery of the city.

Thank you, dear participants and friends. The Congress would not have been as interesting and exciting without your participation!
